Enthusiasts of poker in India have a new tournament to look forward to: The annual Asia Championship of Poker (ACOP) is slated to run in Macau from October 13-29, 2017. ACOP is one of Asia’s most successful tournament series and draws the very best of the poker world who compete in Asia’s richest annual poker series. In 2016, the festival attracted 4,479 entrants and awarded upwards of HK$95 million (~USD $12.3 million) in prize money.
Vladimir Geshkenbein was last year’s Main Event champion becoming the sole player to win a title on both the European Poker Tour and the Asia Pacific Poker Tour. The 29-year old Swiss player claimed HK$5,643,000 along with the coveted Gold Spadie trophy. The victory also awarded him free entry into this year’s Main Event.
The 2017 itinerary features 24 ACOP Title Events, the victors of which will be awarded with the prestigious ACOP Spadie trophies. The highlight event of the series i.e. HK$100,000 (~$13,000) Main Event guarantees a whopping HK$25 million prize pool making it the largest in the history of Asia.
