Film buffs and enthusiasts of poker in India have something exciting to look forward to this year. A trailer for the Hollywood film Molly’s Game, which is based on the real-life story of Molly Bloom who ran an infamous high-stakes poker game for celebrities and Wall Street millionaires has just dropped online.
In 2013, the "Poker Princess," pled guilty to charges of operating an illegal high-stakes poker game.
In a year’s time, she released the details on those notorious high-stakes games which told stories of notables such as Ben Affleck, Tobey Maguire, Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Bloom’s revealing book grabbed the notice of not just poker fans but storytellers and directors in Hollywood. Now, three years following its release, Molly's Game is getting its own film adaptation. Featuring Jessica Chastain, the movie depicts the real-life story of an operator of a high-stakes underground poker game before being subsequently arrested in the middle of the night by FBI agents.
The trailer first arrived on Tuesday showing a glimpse of the ensuing aftermath including a meeting with criminal defense lawyer – played by British actor Idris Elba. Interestingly, this film is Aaron Sorkin’s directorial debut. Sorkin is known for his writing on television series like The Newsroom and The West Wing besides films like The Social Network and Moneyball.
Molly’s Game is scheduled to be released on Nov. 22 but will receive an early screening at next month’s Toronto International Film Festival.
