The Monster Stack event is a new addition to 2017’s schedule of the popular Australian poker series and it proved to be successful. Spanning for 2 days, it drew an impressive field with 328 entries. Finally, it was Indian origin player Ash Gupta who clinched the Monster Stack at the Star Sydney Championships for $77,093; an inspirational victory for enthusiasts of poker in India. Ash Gupta entered the final table as the chip leader with 3.7 million chips.
Two-handed play began with Gupta facing Daniel Neilson. When the play started, Gupta held two times more chips than opponent Neilson. And it took Gupta simply one hand to finish off Neilson and win the inaugural Monster Stack event. Gupta went all-in and Neilson made the call. Gupta turned out 9s-2s against his opponent’s Ac-4s. The board displayed Js-9d-3s-10c-2d. Gupta grabbed the title for an impressive $77,093 in the top prize money, while Neilson settled A$47,658 for his runner-up finish.
Prominent poker pro Kunal Patni has been on a hot streak of late. Just last week, Patni finished second place in the WPTDeepStacks Berlin Main Event for $115,368.
