Following the success in the Macau Poker Cup, a score of notable Indian poker pros have set sail to the Philippines to participate in the ongoing Asia Poker League. The APL Road Series Vol. 1 Philippines is a six-day tournament series headlined by the P5,000,000 GTD Main Event.
Day 2 of the Main Event is set to play out today, with witnessed the field size grow to 276 runners shattering the P5,000,000 prize pool, taking it further to a whopping P6,693,000. The conclusion of Day 2 will whittle down the competition to its final 76 competitors.
Among the host of Indian challengers in attendance at the poker tournament, quite a few of them have made it to Day 2 including Agampal Dhupar (133,200), Jayjit Ray (57,000), Niwesh Sharma (170,100) and Rajesh Goyal (125,600).
Also, Niwesh Sharma slotted in sixth at the Warm-up Event, earning a smooth pay-day of P17,000.
Prominent poker pro Kunal Patni has been on a hot streak of late. Just last week, Patni finished second place in the WPTDeepStacks Berlin Main Event for $115,368.
