The fates of Goan casinos hang in the balance as the election results are set to be announced on March 12. Golden Globe Hotels Private Limited has filed a writ petition in the Goa High Court seeking a gaming license for its casino (sixth offshore one in Goa). Goa is the premier destination for those who play poker live.
5 other casinos based in Goa are also at the mercy of the government. However, Golden Globes has decided not to dilly-dally and gone ahead with a legal move to obtain its license. The High Court has booked April 6 as the date for the hearing.
In the petition, Golden Globes has stated that Goan officials were yet to provide them permissions, besides authorizing change-of-use for its selected vessel. Previously, the company had functioned aboard Casino Mint.
Earlier in January, Golden Globes filed a petition in the Bombay High Court declaring that despite paying the requisite fees, it had not obtained a license for operations.
