Phil Helmuth Wins King of the Hill Title

Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth, a name many fans of poker are familiar with, has grabbed the headlines in the poker world. Hellmuth clinched the King of the Hill title on Poker Night in America fending off the likes of Daniel Cates who was unable to fight off the legendary 14-bracelet winner.

The epic match saw a stunning recovery from Hellmuth, who at one stage had less than 6K in chips against roughly 200K of ‘Jungleman’, launching a phenomenal comeback which featured a fantastic bluff which set the stage on fire.

Before reaching the final of the winner-takes-all $50,000 buy-in event, Hellmuth launched through a classic semi-final match up versus ‘the best online heads-up player of all-time’, Doug Polk, after an hour-long tussle in which Polk too often called with inferior hands – even leaving one call up to luck by ‘tossing a coin’ using his reveal card.
